Pink Camouflage – Art Postcard (A6)

A surprising and delightful encounter.

This postcard reproduces my original gouache painting Pink Camouflage, based on an encounter my sister, Cath, had in Australia. The subject – a wingless or near-wingless katydid – rests within a bloom.  The insect's form is revealed by the softness of the flower around it, yet its colour almost absorbed. These creatures are more commonly green in colour, and the pink tone is an unusual mutation.  Yet it raises the question, did the insect intentionally seek a pink flower?

Printed at A6, the image retains the delicate nature of the original painting: the fine lines of the insect and the softness of the bloom.
